New mobile food ventures unveiled by Cloud 9 Caterers

Vermont Feed Company, the parent company of two mobile eateries The Hindquarter and the Local Grind, and the brain child of Sarah Moran and Luke Stone of Cloud 9 Caterers, is hitting the streets in Chittenden County.

The Hindquarter, a vintage 1964 fire engine turned food truck, is popping up year-round serving an eclectic menu of gourmet snacks. The in-house smoked bacon, freshly made ramen noodle bowls, and Korean Bahn Mi sandwiches are only a glimpse into the ever-changing menu. This little red wagon is available for late night weddings, parties, and festivals, in addition to weekday vending.

The Local Grind, formerly, The Noble Pig, is turning the hot dog–an old summertime favorite–in to a new, one of a kind, experience. Each dog is handcrafted in house by the executive chef using only the finest Vermont, pasture raised pork and beef. Cradled in a homemade, seeded bun most begin with a “Naked Dog” and customize it with a number of local or house made condiments. This cart can be found vending during warmer months and is also open as an additional service for weddings, parties, festivals, and Farmers’ Markets.

The Noble Pig, which the local area is familiar with, made its debut last May and became wildly popular. Unfortunately, the name has been forced to retire due to a cease and desist letter issued by Noble Pig winery in Oregon. The winery expressed that there was customer confusion arising between the two businesses resulting in The Noble Pig’s name change to The Local Grind.

Sarah Moran has owned and operated Cloud 9 Caterers for more than 20 years providing unparalleled event planning and catering services to her clients. Luke Stone, of Huntington, is the Executive Chef of Cloud 9 Caterers. Hailing from a family line of restaurateurs, he brings his expertise of butchering and creative menu planning to Cloud 9. Combining forces, they have created Vermont Feed Company, The Hindquarter, and The Local Grind, which utilize Cloud 9’s new house garden and other local Vermont ingredients and products in their from-scratch recipes; bringing the local goodness of Vermont to hungry patrons streetside.
