As girls hockey numbers in Vermont have dwindled, and high school ice hockey programs are forced to combine teams due to low numbers, the Chittenden South Burlington (CSB) Hockey Association is working to create renewed interest in the sport.
To encourage young girls to play hockey CSB is hosting an U8 and U10 hockey jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Gutterson Fieldhouse on the UVM campus. The U8 girls will be playing from 10 to 11:15 am and the U10 girls from 11:15 to 1 pm.
This is the first year that CSB has had an all girls U8 team and a house program for girls 8-12 years old that showed interested in trying hockey for the first time. It has been a huge success and numbers have increased since the beginning of the season. Currently CSB has 21 U8 girls and 11 house girls practicing and playing games together.
The priority of CSB’s program is to make sure every girl is having fun and developing skills for the future. For more information regarding the hockey jamboree or anything related to girls hockey feel free to email Scott Bushweller at email@example.com.
