In preparation for the sweetest day of the year, Shelburne Vineyard will host “A Vermont Valentine” as part of the Vermont Grape and Wine Council’s Wine and Chocolate Weekend on February 9 and 10 in their tasting room.
On Saturday, Shelburne Vineyard will pair with Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) at the vineyard and have chocolate for sale from 11 am to 5 pm. “It’s hard work tasting wine and chocolate, but with some perseverance we discovered harmonious, complimentary pairings as well as pairings with distinctive contrasts of flavors and textures,” says Catherine Wisloski, Director of Marketing for Lake Champlain Chocolates. “While we have always incorporated local ingredients into our products, we’ve been excited the last several years to pair our chocolates with local producers such as craft breweries, cheese makers, and now winemakers as well.” Sunday Shelburne Vineyard will also be pairing up with Blackflower Chocolates for some divine combinations.
Staff will walk attendees through the various pairings. “There is no one correct way to pair wine and chocolate. We encourage people to explore and try new combinations. You never know what you might discover,” says Wisloski.
