SCHIP awards grants

Members of the Board of Directors of the Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg Interfaith Projects (SCHIP), a local non-profit, have awarded $18,060 in grants to a variety of local organizations in their recent grant cycle, one of three annually. Since the first grants were given in April 2005, more than $400,000 has been distributed from funds raised through the sale of quality used clothing and home goods at the SCHIP’S Treasure Resale Shop at 5404 Shelburne Road in Shelburne Village.
Grants in the current cycle were awarded to the following organizations:
Four Winds Nature Project – Nature education for pre-K through 4th grade
Green Mountain Habitat – Five Charlotte houses
Hinesburg Community Resource Center – Summer Nutrition and Fun Camp
Hinesburg Community School – Summer camp scholarships
Hinesburg Nursery School – Security and safety systems
Discretionary fund at St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine Youth – Trip scholarships
Shelburne Firefighters Association – Safety equipment
Shelburne Nursery School – Scholarships
TeenOpps Cares – Student tutoring program
Spanish Bookmobile sponsored by Charlotte Library and Charlotte Congregational Church
The deadline for the next round of grant applications is May 31, 2013. Grant application forms are available by emailing schipgrant@myfairpoint.net or paper applications are available at the SCHIP’S Treasure Resale Shop, 5404 Shelburne Road in Shelburne Village or at the Town Clerk’s offices in Shelburne, Charlotte, and Hinesburg.
