Office Hours Notice:  The Recreation Office will be closed on Thursday, March 7 while staff attends the VRPA meeting.

The Spring/Summer Program Brochure is inserted in this week’s issue of the Shelburne News!  This can also be found on our website or at the Recreation Office. 

American Red Cross Babysitting Class: A must for all babysitters age 11 and up! This American Red Cross certified class covers growth and development, toy selection, safety issues and basic first aid. Be the most wanted sitter in the neighborhood! Participants will receive a text book, emergency reference guide, and a CD Rom of useful tools and games to take home.  This class will be held on Friday, March 29 from 9 am-4 pm at the Town Center Activity Room.  The Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 20 and the fee is $90.

Shelburne Little Strikers: This program is designed especially for children 3-5 years of age. The Little Strikers program is designed with the idea that children naturally want to have FUN! We’ll include age appropriate games that will let them enjoy the game and learn basic skills without putting pressure on winning or competition. They’ll also learn to work cooperatively with other children. A great first experience!! Instructed by Vermont Premier Soccer Coaches.  This program will run on Fridays, March 22-April 19 from 10-11am for $60 at the Shelburne Town Gym. (April 12 and 19 will be outside) The Registration deadline is March 18.

Young Rembrandts-African Animals and Birds Safari Workshop: Go on a Safari adventure with Young Rembrandts this spring! We will explore the exciting land and many animals that inhabit Africa. In 10 weeks, we will draw a variety of animals in various scenes with different media. Outside of practicing and refining our standard drawing and coloring skills, students will also learn a style of cross-hatching, cut-paper mosaic and chalk pastel techniques.  This program is open for kids in grades K-5.  Program dates are Wednesdays, March 27-May 22 from 2:45-4:15 pm  (1.5 hours-new longer format!).  The class fee is $80 and will be held in the SCS art classroom.  Registration deadline is March 20.

Financial Seminars for College Planning:  Introducing SAGE Tuition Rewards Program.  Learn how your investments, IRA’s and old 401k’s can earn up to one year guaranteed free tuition for 300 colleges including St. Michael’s, Saint Lawrence University and RPI for your children or grandchildren.  This session will be on March 19 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Shelburne Town Meeting Room #2.  Presenters are Louise Evans, CFP, CLU, CCPS of College Planning Associates Bill Allen, LUTCF; The Vermont Agency; Kit Antinozzi, MBA; The Vermont Agency.  Register in advance by calling the Recreation Office at 985-9551.  In lieu of a fee for the seminar, donations to Shelburne Parks & Recreation are encouraged.

Little League Softball and Baseball Registration:  We are now accepting registrations for spring baseball and softball. This program is for kids ages 4-12 by April 30. Registration deadline is March 23. Find more details and registration forms online at

Youth Lacrosse Registration: Registration is now open for Boys and Girls Spring Lacrosse.  This program is open to kids in grades K-8.  Boys in grades 3-8 and girls in grades 5-8 are required to get a US Lacrosse Membership which can be done online. Registration forms will be available on our website or at the Recreation office.  Find more program details online at

Adult No Boundaries Beginner Running Program: Want to try running a 5K but don’t know where to start?  Join us for a non-competitive, 11 week program designed to help you gradually work up to a 5K.  Choose your level:  beginning runner or walk/run.  There will be weekly coach led runs, prize incentives, guest speakers and race registration to the Champlain Classic 5K on May 5!  This program is sponsored and managed by Fleet Feet Sports.  Program Dates are Wednesday March 6-May 1 for $80. This program will meet at Shelburne Community School at 4 pm.
