Youth Lacrosse program offers scholarships
|March 6, 2013||Filled under Sports||
Beginning this year, Shelburne Youth Lacrosse (SYL) is making available dedicated scholarship funds for youth lacrosse. With over 250 participants in the program in 2012, SYL set a 2013-season goal of having at least one to two scholarships at each age level of the program (K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8), with increased scholarship-participant levels in future years. The goal is to provide an opportunity for all Shelburne children to participate in the town’s youth lacrosse program, regardless of ability to pay registration and equipment costs.
The scholarship funds are designed to ensure that Shelburne Parks & Recreation (SP&R), in cooperation with Shelburne Community School (SCS), and the community as a whole, will be able to assist any child who needs a hand to participate in the SYL program. If you know of a Shelburne child who would like to play lacrosse, and might need assistance to do so, please contact Betsy Cieplicki (SP&R) at 985-9551 or Patty Spagnolo (SCS) at 383-1119.
If you would like to join the growing list of scholarship-fund sponsors, send your contribution of any amount (up to $100 max.) to: Shelburne Parks & Recreation, P.O. Box 88, Shelburne, 05482. Please write “SYL Scholarship Fund” on your correspondence. For a current list of our sponsors, go to the SYL website.
Thank you to all who are supporting the SYL Scholarship Fund! Your initiative and generosity will benefit Shelburne’s children for many years to come.
