Local students display skills at USASA Championships

The United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) held two competitions on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. The first event was a Slope Style competition at Sugarbush, while the second event was  a half pipe competition at Stowe.

Snowboarder Jonathan Twombly of Shelburne finished third in a field of nine riders ages 12-13.  Nate Dugan of Hinesburg finished sixth while Charlotte resident Teddy Baker finished seventh. Bayard Baker of Charlotte finished first in a field of seven skiers ages 13-15.

At the halfpipe competition on Sunday, Twombly improved on his first run by some five points but was edged out for the win and finished second.
