Daytime Book Club formed: A core group of five Pierson patrons met recently to organize a daytime Book Club. You are cordially invited to join! The Club will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Pierson Library Conference Room. The Library will provide beverages free of charge. The first official meeting will be on Wednesday, March 20 at 1:30 pm to discuss “The Call” by Yannick Murphy. This novel is about a veterinarian’s family in Vermont and the interesting, often quirky, people the vet meets when he’s making his calls. If you would like a copy of the book and/or would like to be part of the Daytime Book Club, please call Carol at 985-5124 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
New Art Exhibit at the Pierson:The Pierson Library is pleased to be exhibiting the artwork of Lisa Kent and Debba Pearce during March and April. Lisa has been painting floral and landscape images, inspired by her gardens and meadows, as well as the glorious Champlain Valley surroundings, ever since the early 1990s. This exhibit features pastels, her true passion. She finds the “softness, immediacy, and luminosity of this medium” has offered her a new window into the world of art. Lisa also creates hand painted ceramic pieces and custom tiles offering watercolor-like, translucent floral images, including iris and tulip designs. Debba, a watercolor and pastel artist is inspired by the natural beauty and detail of flowers, and the local Vermont landscape. She has an online business where she sells her vibrant, floral note cards. Visit her website at halexdesigns.com.
Coming soon: Look for an announcement soon about a special workshop to help you navigate the electronic book world. The Pierson Library will be sponsoring a presentation and interactive session with an expert who can guide you through the process of accessing the e-books now available to Pierson patrons through Listen Up and Freading. If you need help in the meantime, just bring your laptop or other electronic device to the library and ask any employee for assistance.
