Allen M. Vosburgh, 94, of Lincoln, Neb., left us on his final flight from earth this past Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013. He was born in Burlington, Vt., to Grace (Pierce) and Arthur Vosburgh. Soon after graduating Burlington High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force which began a 23-year career that carried him to distant parts of the world during World War II and the Cold War era. This tour of duty provided Allen with many fascinating tales of adventure to share with his family and friends. Although we only got to see Uncle Allen on occasional, short visits back to Vermont, he continually delighted so many family members with generous gifts of wonderful Omaha Steaks on various holidays throughout the year. After an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, he took a position with the City of Lincoln, Neb., Departments of Roads, from which he eventually retired. One of Allen’s greatest joys in life was participating with the Playmor Ballroom Dance Group and enjoying their wonderful companionship over many years. Allen is survived by his two nieces, Ann V. Painter and family of South Burlington, and Sue V. Wiles and family of Shelburne.
