Redhawks finish season with loss in title game

Four tallied goals for the Rebels as South Burlington defeated Champlain Valley Union 4-2 during the Division I high school boys state championship game on Wednesday, March 6 at Gutterson Fieldhouse on the UVM campus. 

CVU’s Kirk Fontana scored early in the second period and Jake Garrett scored in the third while Greg Talbert made 18 saves for the Redhawks who ended their season at 15-4-3.

In last week’s semifinal, Fontana and Ryan Keelan scored 1 minute and 47 seconds apart in the first period, while Brendan Gannon tallied in the third to lead CVU past Essex 3-0 on March 2.
