From the beginning of November to the end of March, Shelburne Farms is a place where dog owners exercise their pups on the walking trails that wind from the Welcome Center to the shores of Lake Champlain. Dog owners are asked to keep their dogs on leashes and help to keep the trails pleasant for other walkers by picking up.
On April 1, as spring weather brings more children and families to the trails, and more farm animals and wild animals roam, Shelburne Farms asks that walkers leave their dogs at home (or take them to the nearby Shelburne Village Dog Park where they can run leash-free and get lots of exercise). The “no dogs” policy is in effect until the end of October.
Shelburne Farms appreciates the cooperation of the dog-walking public, reminding that dogs on leashes will be welcome back to the walking trails on Nov. 1.
