Ellen (Abraham) Chave, 61, passed away on Easter Sunday, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Winchester, Mass., to Eleanore L. of Shelburne, and the late William H. Abraham, Ellen was raised in Mexico City, Amherst, N.Y., and East Charlotte. A graduate of CVU High School, class of 1970, and Johnson State College, Ellen worked for more than thirty years as a merchandiser for JCPenney in Burlington, Bennington, St. Johnsbury, Auburn, N.Y., and Pittsfield, Mass. She leaves her devoted husband, Dan Chave of Williston and their dog Gus; and her brother and five sisters, Robert Abraham and his partner, Karen Lee, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Nancy Hall and her husband, Ray Starr, of Medfield, Mass., Jane Abraham of South Burlington, Sally Hertz and her husband, Michael, of Norwell, Mass., Maryann Abraham of Essex Junction, and Patricia Abraham of Shelburne. She also leaves five nieces and nephews, Jeffrey and Meredith Hall, Jeremy and Alex Hertz, and Kasey Jimenez. Friends are invited to celebrate Ellen’s life on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 1 pm in the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington. Interment will be private. Donations in Ellen’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Red Sox Jimmy Fund.
