George A. Jimmo – Winooski

George A. Jimmo, 88, most recently a resident of Starr Farm Nursing Center, died March 28, 2013. Born Sept. 18, 1924, he was the son of George J. Jimmo and Celia D. Hill. George married Joyce Huard on July 5, 1954, in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Winooski. In 2010, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. After graduating from Cathedral High School and St. Michael’s College, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. George was employed for 17 years as a representative for Addressograph- Multigraph, traveling the state of Vermont. To his customers he was known as “Mr. Addressograph.” Following retirement from the Howard Bank in 1980, he served as a Commissioner for the Champlain Water District. He was an active member of Christ the King and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Along with his wife, he devoted 32 years of care to their daughter, Joanne “Jo,” who had Downs Syndrome. He is survived by his daughter, MJ Fitzgerald and sister, Anna Quinn of Shelburne, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joanne, and his loving wife, Joyce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Winooski on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 11 am. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. In memory of George, take some time out of your day to visit a nursing home patient, or do an act of kindness for someone expecting nothing in return.
