CVU begins winning steak

Champlain Valley claimed a 10-2 victory over Middlebury and defeated Spaulding 7-4 in high school baseball action on Thursday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 30 respectively. At Spaulding, Rayne Supple hit two doubles, Jamie Pierson went 2-for-3, and Will Potter knocked in the winning run. Kyle Stanley earned the win for 4-1 Redhawks.

 

Redhawks lose two for two

Middlebury and Spaulding defeated Champlain Valley 13-2 and 10-0 in softball games this week. At Spaulding Claire Potter struck out four in the loss for CVU.

 

CVU routs Rutland then BFA

Champlain Valley dominated both Rutland and BFA St. Albans 14-1 this week in high school boys lacrosse action. Against BFA Elliott Mitchell scored three goals and had two assist while Nevin Deparlo and Alex Bulla each tallied two goals and two assists apiece. Chandler Jacobson and Cam Rivard scored twice and goalie Owen Hudson made eight saves.

 

CVU goes down swinging

The Essex High School golf team defeated Champlain Valley 337-356 in the first match of the season Monday afternoon, April 29 at Essex Country Club. CVU scores were as follows: Peter Scrimgeour 77, Carter Knox 83, Christian Jaunich 92, Will Ryan 104, and Tripp Norris 119.

 

Redhawks remain undefeated in tennis

Champlain Valley secured their fifth win of the season by defeating South Burlington 5-2 in high girls tennis action Monday afternoon, April 29 at Davis Park in Shelburne. In singles: Kathy Joseph, CVU def. Samantha Wulfson, SB 6-3 7-5, Andrea Joseph, CVU def. Lajla Badnjevic, SB 6-2 6-3, Emily Polhemus, CVU def. Emily Sprague, SB 6-4 6-4, Amanda Taheri, CVU def. Lisa Wood, SB 6-2 6-2, Evelyn Mitchell, CVU def. Basundhara Mukherjee,SB 6-1 6-2. In doubles: Linley Shaw/Delaney Spink, SB def. Leah Epstein/Natalie Puma, CVU 6-1 3-6 10-6, Taylor Gloyd/Jasmina Jusufagic, SB def. Elyse Killkelley/Isabelle Angstman, CVU 6-2, 6-1.

 

CVU boys tennis suffers first loss of season

The Rebels dealt the Redhawks their first loss of the regular season in boys tennis Monday afternoon, April 29. South Burlington won the match 7-0. The results were as follows: Singles: 1. Cody Yu, SB def. Joey O’Brien, C 6-1, 6-2; Marco Cepeda, SB def. Skylar Golann, C 6-0, 6-1; Will Gregoire, SB def. Conor McQuiston, C 6-0, 6-1; Jack Graham, SB def. Ryan Schneiderman, C 6-1, 6-1; James Gregoire, SB def. Evan Cohen, C 6-0, 6-0. Doubles: Matty Jenkins/Nikko Pasanen, SB def Josh Huber/Stephen Asok, C 6-1, 6-0; David Kunin/Philip Nerber, SB def. Zach Holman/Nathan Comai, C 6-7, 6-0, (10-7).
