The (Female!) Odd Couple auditions are coming

Everyone knows Neil Simon’s beloved Tony award-winning comedy, “The Odd Couple,” featuring the unlikely pair of roommates, Felix and Oscar. This fall, Shelburne resident Kathryn Blume will direct Simon’s female version of the show, set in the mid-1980s. This time around, the odd couple is Olive Madison, a successful television producer who’s more than a little careless about the state of her apartment and Florence Unger, a highly meticulous ”woman in transition.” Like the male version, this pair is great friends and complete opposites, thrown together when Florence and her husband separate. Add to the mix four Trivial-Pursuit-playing friends and a couple of attractive (and single) Spanish brothers who live upstairs and you’ve got a chaotic and hilarious clash of styles and cultures – not to mention a little airborne linguini.
Odd Couple Auditions
The comedy will be staged by Girls Nite Out Productions from Oct. 4-7. Auditions for the comedy are by appointment only on Friday, May 11, 6:15-9:45 pm and Saturday May 12 from 12:15-2 pm at 1 Mill Street in Burlington.
There are roles for six women and two men, with all roles falling in the 30-plus stage age range. More info and audition slides are available at http://girlsniteoutvt.com/audition-inf

About Girls Nite Out Productions
Founded in 2010, Girls Nite Out Productions came to life when actresses Jennifer Warwick-Sokolowski of Shelburne, and Janet Stambolian determined that the best way to provide more high quality theatrical roles for women was to create the opportunities on their own. Girls Nite Out’s past two shows were the well-received “Steel Magnolias” and “Hallelujah Girls.”
