Enter RJ’s Rice Run A 5K fun run May 19
|May 7, 2012||Filled under Sports||
The first annual RJ’s Rice Run is a 5K fun-run that benefits the Rice Memorial Boosters Club. The goal for this first year’s event is to attract runners who are students, alumni, parents, and friends of Rice Memorial High School.
RJ Noonan, legendary Rice faculty member, coach and ultimate sports fan, taught at Rice for 37 years. During this time he taught, at one time or another, math, religion, history, social studies, economics, and drivers ed and is well known for coaching cross country and track. Since retirement, RJ and his wife Bridget, longtime residents of Shelburne, stay loyal and enthusiastic supporters of all the Rice teams. It is only natural to name this event after RJ as the Rice cross country and track programs are synonymous with his name.
