Tyler Richards of Shelburne placed second in the 2013 Vermont Pepsi Youth Bowling Championships at Spare Times in Colchester on May 4. The finish qualified the Champlain Valley Union (CVU) sophomore to compete for a spot on the USA youth bowling team against students from all over the United States July 13-19 in Detroit, Mich. Richards has scheduled numerous fundraisers to raise the funds necessary to compete in the North Pointe Junior Gold National Youth Bowling Tournament. The fundraisers are as follows:
Champlain Lanes will hold a bowling ball raffle May 24-26. Stop by the bowling alley at 2630 Shelburne Road in Shelburne to purchase a raffle ticket. The winner will be announced on Sunday, May 26 at 3 pm. A 9-pin bowling tournament will be held on Sunday, June 16 at Spare Time Lanes at 10 am. The fee of $15 for juniors and $20 per adult includes shoe rental. On Saturday, June 22 a spaghetti dinner at Vergennes Union High School will be held from 6-8 pm for $10 a person. Main Street Sports in Winooski will hold a raffle for an autographed photo of Boston Celtic legend Larry Bird now through Friday, June 28. At 6 pm on June 28 the winning raffle ticket will be drawn and the winner announced. To purchase a raffle ticket stop by Main Street Sports at 325 Main Street. And finally a car wash and bake sale beginning at 10 am will take place on Saturday, June 29 at Spare Time Lanes in Colchester.
