Boys lacrosse tames Tigers
Champlain Valley blanked Middlebury on Friday, May 17 for their second shutout in three games. Nevin Diparlo, Elliot Mitchell, Steele Dubrul, Alex Bulla, Hoyt McCuin, and Jack Gingras scored for the 9-3 Redhawks. Owen Hudson made 11 saves.
Scrimgeour records low score
In golf action at Rocky Ridge last Friday, May 17 Champlain Valley’s Peter Scrimgeour carded a 76 although the team placed third. The scores were as follows: Scrimgeour 76, Carter Knox 82, Ryan Grabone-Akey 93, Forrest Dodds 94, and Patrick Pattison 95.
Despite losses tennis team has winning record
The Essex boys tennis team downed Champlain Valley 4-2 last Thursday, May 16 at Davis Park in Shelburne. They were also beaten by Mount Mansfield 5-2 on Monday. The scores from the match against Essex were as follows: Singles: David Ro, E def. Joey O’Brien, C 6-0, 6-0; Daniel Ro, E def. Skylar Golann, C 6-3, 6-3; Conor Mcquiston, C def. Evan Greer, E 2-6, 6-4, 12-10; Dylan Garcia, E def. Ryan Schneiderman, C 7-6, (7-2), 7-6, (7-2); Eric Corredera, E def. Matthew Killkelley, C 6-1, 6-3. Doubles: Tristan Arthaud/Josh Huber, C def. Baseball team continues winning streak
Timely hits by Davis Mikell and Rayne Supple led Champlain Valley to a 5-3 win over Vergennes in baseball action last Thursday, May 16. Supple went 4-4 with two singles, two triples and an RBI. He also pitched four innings and gave up two hits in the win. Two days later Dylan Ireland pitched a three-hitter, including nine strikeouts, for a complete game win against North Country. Supple hit a three-run homer and scored twice while Kirk Fontana and Alex Henning contributed for the 9-2 Redhawks.
Redhawks continue winning ways
CVU girls tennis team downs Essex 6-1 on Thursday, May 16 and Mount Mansfield 7-0 on Monday, May 20 to remain perfect in the regular season.
Softball wins third game of season
After a loss to Vergennes 20-0 on Thursday, May 16 the Champlain Valley softball team rebounded to defeat North Country 6-3 on Saturday, May 18. Alannah Roy had three hits including a pair of doubles, and made a stellar double play to secure the win. Claire Potter earned the win for CVU.
Redhawks score but find win difficult
Middlebury defeated Champlain Valley 17-16 in girls lacrosse action last Wednesday, May 15. On Saturday the Redhawks were defeated by Burlington 18-14. Kate Raszka led CVU with four goals and an assist while Brenna Gorman had a hat trick against the Seahorses. Lucia Llona and Natalie Benoit scored twice and had an assist apiece. Thea Weiss, Jane Baker, and Jasmyn Drudge also scored. Redhawks Bailee Pudvar and Sarah Caffry saved three shots apiece.
