For those of you that have come late to the O’Brien development proposal for high density residential development in a rural zoned area, it might be helpful to review Bill Stuono’s Letter to the Editor in the May 23, Shelburne News.
As Bill astutely observes:
1. The current O’Brien development proposal for 145 housing units will further burden taxpayers since the property tax income it generates is less than the expense it imposes on the community’s services.
2. It would be difficult to pick a location more in conflict with the concept of Smartgrowth design.
3. It places an extreme burden on a rural road system already outdated and overwhelmed by local as well as out-of-state vehicles trying to avoid the Route 7 traffic through Shelburne.
