Shelburne artist Athenia Schinto has done it again. She was awarded the “Outstanding Landscape Award” at the Ninth Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition for her pastel “Route 2, Danville.” According to Diane Forsberg, the juror of awards for the show, “The row of red farm buildings in the center of the landscape meet up with a blaze of red orange that appears to be a fire sweeping through the green hills. The sure application of contrasting colors makes this landscape a strong work.”
Schinto was recognized with the “Outstanding Color” distinction at the same exhibition two years ago for her pastel, “Fall Reflections.” This annual exhibition features artwork from renowned pastel artists from all across the United States and Canada. The exhibition, including Schinto’s artwork, is on display at the View in Old Forge, N.Y. through June 29.
