Button Up workshop promotes energy efficiency for homeowners

The Shelburne Energy Committee will host a Button Up Vermont workshop on Thursday, May 10 at 7 pm at the Shelburne Town Offices. The workshop is designed to help Vermonters understand how to improve energy efficiency in their homes and save money.
The free workshop includes an overview of the reasons why building efficiency is so important here in Vermont, illustrates how homes lose energy, and outlines clear steps that homeowners can take to reduce this energy loss and save money. Liston Freeman, a BPI-certified contractor, will offer a slide presentation and answer questions from the audience.
Owners of homes and businesses in Shelburne and the surrounding area are invited to attend the two-hour session to learn about actions they can take to lower energy bills and make their homes and businesses more comfortable and affordable.
“We are offering this workshop in Shelburne because with rising heating costs, everyone is thinking about ways to make their homes more efficient,” said Chris Chiarello of the energy committee. “We hope that by sharing this information, we can help our neighbors be more comfortable in their homes and get more control of their heating expenses.”
Ben Griffin of Energy Co-op of Vermont’s Co-op Solar will present information about a new solar hot water program that offers free site evaluations, volume discounts, tax credits, and attractive financing.
Button Up Vermont workshops are co-sponsored by Central Vermont Community Action Council and Efficiency Vermont.
The Shelburne Energy Committee meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 7 pm in the Town Offices. Meetings are open to all persons interested in energy issues.
