While the rest of his Champlain Valley Union High School classmates are finishing finals and preparing for summer break before going to college, Charlotte-based race car driver Dillon Machavern is winning races around the country. After his win on the weekend of his 18th birthday, Machavern decided that signing with management company P1 Groupe was the right move for his career.
Dillon already has 11 pole positions and 14 wins on the season, but has aspirations of making a living out of the sport he loves. With two rounds remaining in the SCCA US Majors Tour – Eastern Conference, Machavern is leading the points standings in the GT1 Class, and currently fourth in Spec Miata. Machavern will look to P1 Groupe for the necessary behind the scenes support that he’ll need as he balances racing full time with his college coursework at High Point University. Of the opportunity Machavern states, “I’m excited to be working with P1 Groupe, and am looking forward to the opportunities that our partnership will create!”
P1 Groupe President Eric Burch echoes Dillon’s sentiments, “We pride ourselves on our work with drivers as they transition into the professional ranks of the sport, and know that Dillon has what it takes to be in the sport for a long time. Balancing racing full time with college is a challenge that Dillon is up for, and we’re happy to have him as part of the P1 Groupe family!”
