Basketball Camp – July 8-12

Learn the basic skills and fundamentals of basketball. Emphasis will be on improving skills, teamwork, and basic knowledge of the game. Camp t-shirt included.  8:30 am-12 pm for ages 7-9 and 1- 4:30 pm for ages 10-12, $100, Town Center Gym. Directed by TJ Sawyer.

Field Hockey Camp – July 8-12

Introduction to field hockey for beginners or a chance to practice skills for those who already play. Players must provide their own stick, mouth guard, shin guards, and a full water bottle. Camp t-shirt included. Ages 7-14, 8:30 am-12 pm at the fields next to the Field House, $100. Directed by Megan Maynard.

Creative Kids, Tumble and Fun – July 22-26

One combined morning camp to give your child both a physical and creative outlet for their summer energy! Fundamentals of tumbling and balance beam will be geared towards both those students who have never tried the sport before as well as those already practicing cartwheels in the backyard. Each day the group will learn how to complete a different arts and crafts project, such as friendship bracelets, colorful paper mosaics, and classic macaroni artwork. All materials will be provided. Camp time will be structured as one hour of gymnastics, a half hour of snack/break/outdoor time, and one hour of arts and crafts. Campers should wear comfortable clothing that allows for full movement, and bring sturdy shoes (no flip-flops) for outdoor activities, weather permitting. Please pack your camper a healthy snack to help him/her refuel mid-morning, and water bottles are recommended. This camp will run from 9:30 am-12 pm for 4-7 year olds in the Shelburne Town Gym for a fee of $95.  The camp instructor will be Karen Krajacic.

18th Annual Summer Concert Series hosted by Shelburne Farms:

The Rec Dept. has planned another great lineup of artists for you to enjoy this summer at the Farm Barn. Set up your lawn chair and blanket, bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from the concession stand sponsored by the Recreation Committee. This event is certain to be a pleasure for the whole family! Kids will love visiting with the animals or dancing on the lawn, and everyone enjoys the great music and a treat from the concession stand. The gate opens at 5:30 pm; concerts begin at 6:30 pm. (Except the last concert, which starts at 7 pm). **Donations welcome at the gate.**

Local father/ son duo of Ken and Jesse French perform an acoustic Neil Young tribute.

Concert sponsor: Almartin Volvo.

Fireworks sponsors: Automaster, Associates in Orthodontics, Rice Lumber, Precourt Investment Co., and Shelburne Supermarket.

In case of inclement weather, we may have to move the concert from Shelburne Farms indoors to the Shelburne Town Gym. Don’t let the rain spoil your fun! Bring your chairs and picnic and join us anyway for a great concert! Call the Recreation Dept. at 985-9551 for last minute updates.
