Johanna Ockert Perry passed away on June 20, 2013, at The Abraham House, Utica, N.Y. Johanna is the daughter of Alfred W. and Mildred M. Ockert, born on Nov. 30, 1933, in Burlington. Johanna was raised on Shelburne Farms and educated in the Shelburne school system. She was one of the first employees at the Shelburne Museum, where she worked in the Variety Unit. She was predeceased by her parents; and husbands, Ivan Garen, George Rocheleau, and Mark Perry. She is survived by her children, David (Garen) Rocheleau of Sanford, Maine, and Maryjane (Garen) Poulin and husband, Michael, of Morrisville, N.Y.; brother, Carroll A. “Bud” Ockert and wife, Genevieve, of Shelburne; niece, Genevieve M. Ockert of Shelburne; nephew, Alfred J. Ockert and wife, Melissa, and their children, Jacob and Emerson, of Morrisville, N.C.; and cousins, Beverly Cross and her family of Shelburne, and Barbara Patrick and her family of Hardwick. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Shelburne, on July 13, 2013, at 2 pm. Interment of Johanna and her husband, Mark, will be in the Ockert Family plot, Shelburne Cemetery, at the family’s convenience.
