The sun finally came out Sunday, and the Shelburne 11-12 All Stars came out swinging. After a week-long delay due to rain, the boys returned to the ball field in Shelburne for game two of the District I Tournament, beating Middlebury 6-3 in six innings.

Leadoff batter Hank Caswell kicked off the first inning with a home run over left field, and Collin Vincent following suit smacking a second home run over the fence.  Graham Walker had a nice double in the fourth to tally two RBIs.

Andrew Snell and Trevor Mitiguy were outstanding defensively, with Snell catching an amazing fly ball at the third base line, and Mitiguy making the final two outs.  Vincent went five and two thirds innings on the mound fanning three batters.

The 11/12 team is expected to play Mt. Abe Tuesday and Richmond Friday, both at Burlington’s Schifilliti Park. In the event those games are not miraculously delayed by Mother Nature, the results and schedule updates can be found at www.sports.bluesombrero.com. The first round of pool play for 11/12 is scheduled to wrap up Sunday.
