The Shelburne 11/12 All Star team banged out three straight wins last weekend to finish the first round of pool play undefeated. With a 5-0 record, the Shelburne All Stars received top seed ranking, winning a bye in the first round of double elimination play in the District 1 tournament.
The team beat Mt. Abe with a score of 8-2 on Friday, with Graham Walker on the mound for three innings, fanning five batters. Hank Caswell struck out 11 batters in four and one third innings Saturday, in a 13-3 win against Richmond, and Collin Vincent pitched four innings Sunday against Charlotte, striking out three batters for a 13-1 victory. Andrew Snell and Trevor Mitiguy were solid in relief.
Several players were also strong at the plate, including Nick Lyman, Connor Rushford, Andrew Snell, Mitiguy and Vincent, who hit a whopping three home runs in the game against Richmond. The team, rounded out by Joey Viner, Nikos Carroll, Ethan Oglesby, Mike Casarico, and Jason West, heads into the next round with a scheduled game Wednesday against Williston. A win will send the All Stars to a Saturday match-up against the winner of the South Burlington vs. Colchester game. A loss will pit the team against Charlotte on Friday, all weather dependent.
