The annual girls Lions Twin State Soccer Cup match will take place on Saturday, July 20 at 4 pm followed by the boys match at Sodexho Field at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H. The best of this year’s graduated high school girls and boys soccer players for Vermont include Champlain Valley Union’s Kate Razska, Lily Harris, Taylor Goldsborough, Noah Lieberman, and Shane Haley.
The first Lions Twin State soccer match was played in 1975 at Middlebury College between the boys of Vermont and New Hampshire. In 1983 the girls of New Hampshire and Vermont were added to the showcase. Since the inception of the Lions Twin State Soccer Association, over 3,000 men and women have been honored by their selection to participate. Not only is it a venue for the athletes to exhibit their talents but it also helps support Vermont Lions Charities for the benefit of Austine Green Mountain Lions Hearing Impaired Camp.
