Doris M. Armell, 71, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2013, with her family and friends at her side. Doris, or Nana as she was most lovingly known to her family was born in Middlebury on Feb. 14, 1942. Doris is survived by her daughters, Lynn Beede and husband, Dan, of Williamstown, Wendy Coleman and her husband, Lee, and Heather Cruickshank and her partner, Patrick Murphy; her loving grandchildren, Tyler Tenney, Kelly Piche, Ryan Nielsen, Samantha Nielsen, Rachel Coleman, Lexi Cruickshank and Leo (LJ) Cruickshank. She is also survived by her four brothers, Robert Many, Ray Many, Roland Many and Paul Many, all of Middlebury; and her sisters, Mary Buchanan of Burlington, Agnes Blow of Proctor and Theresa Ouellette of Sudbury. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Clara Many; her loving husband, Larry; and her sister, Helen Ouellette. Doris was a caring, nurturing person who cared for many children during her 30 years as a daycare provider. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. Doris loved playing games and anyone who knew her fell victim to her competitive nature. She was the world’s best Mom and Nana to all who knew and loved her. Nana had special place in her heart for all the babies that came into her life and grew up in her home. In honor of her favorite color, please consider incorporating the color RED into your attire while attending the funeral on Friday. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 4 to 6 pm at the Shelburne United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall on Church Street in Shelburne. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013, at 1 pm at the Shelburne United Methodist Church, with graveside burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her memory to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, P.O. Box 459, South Hero, VT 05486, in honor of her love and devotion to children and her courageous battle with cancer.
