This isn’t an investment advice column in the usual sense, but it does have a message about wise investment of your money.

For a Shelburne business owner or professional person, there is an investment that promises a very prompt and traceable payback. The $50 annual fee to be a member of Shelburne Business and Professional Association (SBPA) plugs businesses into the fabric of the Shelburne community, with benefits to share:

Businesses could be included on the exciting newly published “Shelburne: Stay a while!” rack card which is currently at Welcome Centers on I-89 as well as on display at the front desk of Shelburne businesses where visitors to the area will see them – and take them home.

Additionally, businesses will be listed on the SBPAVT.org webpage – a site that captures the attention of potential visitors and business connections who are searching the web as they plan travel or business growth.

Business owners can also choose to belong to Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce (LCRCC), and experience a $50 reduction in LCRCC annual fees. SBPA has established a strategic partnership with LCRCC with many benefits including access to many educational workshops and special events.

SBPA underwrites the cost of advertising in some regional publications dedicated to attracting visitors to Shelburne, a benefit to all the businesses in town.

Members of SBPA are included on the SBPAVT.org website – an excellent way to connect to potential visitors to Shelburne, and to potential new businesses and new residents.

And with Shelburne Day only three weeks away, members of SBPA have an opportunity to have an information table at the day-long popular event on the parade ground, a chance to tell neighbors and visitors about their business, hand out promotional information, and sign up potential customers. Shelburne Day this year will be a bigger than ever event as it is part of the Shelburne 250th Anniversary Celebration.

Be part of the economic and social fabric of the Shelburne community – whether large or small, storefront or home front, all businesses will benefit. Call Tod Whitaker at 985-2472 or go to the SBPAVT.org website to find a membership application form.
