Seven local artists, including Patrick Kennedy of Shelburne, were honored for their paintings at the Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition last week. Curated by Gary Eckhart, watercolor artist and President of the Valley Arts Foundation, and judged by Jeanne Carbonetti, renowned author and artist, the Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition has been surprising visitors with its high quality of art and breadth of technique and subjects.
Kennedy’s “Aquilla Red” received the President’s Award. The only abstract expressionist painting to win an award, the intricate yet free play of reds, yellows, and purples warms the viewer.
The Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition is located at the Big Red Barn Gallery at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield, and runs Thursday through Sunday from 12-9 pm. The show will close at 6 pm Sunday, July 28. For more information go to www.vermontartfest.com or contact the Valley Arts Foundation at (802) 496-6682 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
