The Shelburne Energy Committee has announced the winner of the previously advertised essay contest for a free home energy audit. Shelburnites were encouraged to submit an explanation in 250 words or less why their house should get an energy audit. Upon review, the Energy Committee has chosen the essay submitted by Zoltan Keve at 25 McCabe Circle. Keve stated that his home had indications of drafts and heat loss in several locations. After receiving the news that he was the winner of the contest, Keve stated, “I’m thrilled to have won this. I’ve been meaning to get an audit done and just haven’t gotten around to it.”
Russ Flanigan of Perkins Smith Design Build will conduct the audit. The report will include blower door testing of the building shell, efficiency testing of the heating and hot water equipment, analysis of insulation levels, analysis of electricity and gas usage, and identification of costs and prioritization of potential energy efficiency measures.
The results of Keve’s audit along with a discussion of some possible incentives available will be announced in a future issue of the Shelburne News.
