A wonderful new art exhibit is now on display in the Pierson Library gallery. For the next two months, we have the honor of featuring the pastel drawings of Shelburne artist and library volunteer, Betty Mayer. As Mayer says, “A pastel artist and several workshops with Robert Carsten introduced me to the world of pastel painting and I fell in love with the medium. My passion for color and the vibrancy of pastel opened up a new appreciation for capturing the immediacy of Vermont’s ever changing light, atmosphere, mood, and rich colors.” Her passion for color is elegantly expressed in her portraits of animals and landscapes. Next time you are in the library browsing for a new favorite book or movie, please take a minute to admire Mayer’s work.
Shelburne Day’s 250th year celebration is right around the corner! Our new library director, Lara Keenan, will be hosting the table for the Pierson Library. Stop by to introduce yourself while browsing an assortment of brochures and bookmarks. Also enter your name in a drawing to win a handmade lap quilt by a member of the Friends of the Pierson Library board and volunteer, Sally Kalinoski.
