On Sunday, Aug. 11, Church & Main Restaurant will be hosting a benefit to support The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Ned Church is the founder and proprietor of Church & Main, a downtown-Burlington restaurant which fuses “classical cuisine and modern luxury.” While Church’s elegant eating establishment works to bring a taste of comfortable class to the heart of Burlington, the Church & Main space is also a perfect venue to host a fundraising event that is of personal significance to the owner. As a Shelburne Community School fourth-grader, Ned was involved in a car accident which left him paralyzed from the neck down. Having grown up in Shelburne, Ned’s father, “Geebo” Church, expressed how grateful he was for the support of the community. The continued support of friends, family, and neighbors is what makes such fundraising events successful and turns passion for a cause into a helping hand. “As someone living with a spinal cord injury for the last 20 years of my life,” Church explains, “this is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.”
All proceeds from the dinner will directly benefit the foundation and its mission to discover “therapies, interventions, and treatments for persons living with spinal cord injuries.” From 6-10 pm, diners can enjoy heavy appetizers, drinks from the cash bar, and live music by The DuPoint Brothers. This is a ticketed event, and guests are encouraged to register or make a tax deductible donation in advance of the event by visiting the Church & Main Facebook page.
Providing items or services for the silent auction is also greatly appreciated. Church & Main Restaurant is located at 156 Church Street in Burlington. For more information or to make a reservation, please call the restaurant at (802) 540-3040.
