Magic Hat’s annual live art competition – Wall to Canvas – returns to brewery grounds for a fourth year of epic canvas creation on Saturday, Aug. 24 from noon to 6 pm. Urban arts abound as the Vermont brewer and community members gather to benefit the Shelburne Craft School.
Twelve regional artists will spray, paste, and paint away the day under the watchful eyes of art-loving attendees and to the sounds of DJ Rekkon and DJ GI Joe. A $3 admission fee, all of which goes to the Shelburne Craft School, paves the way to an outdoor beer garden with Magic Hat’s year-round beers, seasonal brews, and special cask offerings. To satisfy appetites, the Chubby Muffin and Farm Fresh Fries will be doling out great grub all afternoon. Artists will also have their work available for sale in an artist merchandise tent set up beside the action. New this year will be an interactive art project, with Abby Manock, where attendees will be able to get in on the creative action themselves.
Attendees can watch the 12 artists create their masterpieces before perusing the finished works and meeting the artists. Half of the winning bids from the live art auction will go to the artist and half will go to benefit the Shelburne Craft School. There will also be a contest for best in show, the winner of which will get $500 and their own exhibit on the walls of the Magic Hat Artifactory’s Artspace.
The Magic Hat Artifactory is located at 5 Bartlett Bay Rd, South Burlington. Visit www.magichat.net/walltocanvas for a detailed schedule of events.
