In celebration of Shelburne’s 250 birthday, the Luxton-Jones Gallery will host a new art exhibition and sale titled “Visions of Shelburne and Beyond.” Internationally-renowned artist Carolyn Walton, a former Shelburne resident who still visits and paints in Shelburne frequently, has created many stunning new oil paintings inspired by the beautiful lake and mountains that surround the Shelburne area. The exhibit will also show several lovely new pastels by resident Athenia Schinto. Also featured during the exhibit will be paintings by Susan Bull Riley from South Burlington, Adirondack artist Gail Bessette, Betty Ball of Connecticut (an artist with close ties to Vermont), and jewelry artist Tineke Russell of Burlington.

The “Visions of Shelburne and Beyond” exhibit will be on display Saturday, Aug. 17 through Sept. 25.

The Luxton-Jones Gallery is located at 5955 Shelburne Road in Shelburne, directly across from the entrance to the Shelburne Museum. The Gallery welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 12 to 5:30 pm, by appointment or by chance.  For more information about the Gallery exhibit and the exhibiting artists, please contact Gallery owner Marilene Luxton-Jones by email at, call 985-8223, or visit
