Frog Hollow presents “After Hours-The Queen City; Dusk to Dawn,” a month-long exhibit of original watercolors by Burlington artist Katharine Montstream. This year marks Katherine’s twenty-fifth year of coloring for a living and, as a result, she has scheduled several exhibits of her work, focused on the unique look of our beloved city.
“I love the simplicity of the night time palette,” Montstream explains. “Tonality becomes the focus as colors fade. Gradations of grays, blues, and green tell the story of the Burlington skyline and its surrounding landscape. Edges of buildings and trees are hidden and come and go at night. Views from Oakledge Park, the lake and from up on the hill all give a different perspective to the city I love.”
Opening night takes place at Frog Hollow (85 Church Street, Burlington) on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5-8 pm. The opening is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.froghollow.org or call 863-6458.
