Children’s story time begins
Another wonderful year of children’s programming is kicking off at the Pierson Library! Beginning Sept. 5, renowned musician and puppeteer Mary Catherine Jones brings songs, stories and laughs to the Library, Thursday mornings at 10:30 am. This program holds appeal for infants, toddlers, and pre-k aged kids, and is a great way to get to know friends and neighbors!
E-books for kids
Get your child interested in reading through TumbleBooks, an on-line resource available at www.PiersonLibrary.org. Click on Children’s Room, and then on TumbleBooks – e-books for e-kids. You or your child may choose and enjoy a variety of story books, videos, puzzles & games, language learning, or read alongs at no charge.
The Friends of the Pierson Library Annual Book Sale! We are still accepting donations of gently used books for the sale until Sept. 30. No text books, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, computer manuals, dictionaries, Bibles, cassette tapes, VHS tapes or encyclopedias please! All other donations are welcome. Help support the Pierson Library by officially joining the Friends. In addition to the book sale, there are many ways you can help out during the year by giving of your time, and a financial contribution of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Sign up forms for the Friends of the Pierson Library are available at the front desk. If you become a Friend by Sept. 30, you will be invited to the special preview of the Book Sale on Friday, Oct. 11. Members of the public are invited to the sale on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct.13.
Use your Pierson Library card at other libraries! Did you know that certain other libraries in Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties will allow you to take out books, CDs or DVDs for free on your Pierson Library card? If you are looking for a book, a DVD, or a book on tape that we do not currently have on our shelves, perhaps you could find it nearby. Pierson Library closed on Labor Day. The Pierson Library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2. However, we will be open as usual on Saturday, Aug. 31 if you need books or DVDs for the holiday.
