Football team remains perfect
Running back Jason Cora and quarterback Steele DuBrul – along with a stingy defense – led the Redhawks over Burlington 25-8 on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Hinesburg. Minutes into the second half, DuBrul scored on 39-yard carry. The CVU senior finished the game with 20 carries for 99 yards and 37 additional passing yards. Cora finished with 28 carries for 124 yards. CVU earned their third consecutive win without starting quarterback Bennett Cazayoux.
Redhawks triumph over Essex, Mount Mansfield
CVU senior Molly Dunphy scored early in the first half and Champlain Valley beat Essex 1-0 in their field hockey home opener. Evangeline Dunphy made 10 saves for the 2-0 Redhawks. On Tuesday, Katie Arms scored twice to lead Champlain Valley over MMU 3-1. Amanda Whitbeck scored and Evangeline Dunphy made five saves for the Redhawks
CVU defeats MMU in opener
Three Redhawks, Oliver Chioniere, Max Brown, and Joe Castano, tallied two goals apiece to cruise past Middlebury 8-0 in its soccer home opener Friday, Sept. 13. Zach Akey and Chris Reiss also scored for the perfect Redhawks. Brandon O’Connell and Oscar Kelley combined for two saves.
Lady Redhawks remain unbeaten
Haliana Burhans scored two first half goals to help lead the Redhawks over the Rebels on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in South Burlington. Freshman Sierra Morton also scored. Maddie Turneau made two saves and has yet to give up a goal this season. Mackenzie Kingston scored and made an assist to help beat Essex 3-0 in high school soccer action Tuesday afternoon. Burhans and Paige DuBrul also scored while Turnau made three saves.
JV A team improves to 3-0

With a 24-0 victory over Mt. Mansfield on Monday, Sept. 16 the JV A football team improved to 3-0. After the game, Head Coach Tim Albertson said “This was a great effort by our entire team. I am very pleased at the way this team is coming together.” QB Andrew Bortnick threw for 125 yards and 3 TDs and QB Leandro Vazquez threw for 58 yards and one TD. WR Jack Dugan led the receivers with 3 receptions for 108 yards and two TDs. WR Sam Mikell and WR Jacob Veronneau also caught TD passes while RB Richard Lowrey has powered the ground game with 134 yards on 34 carries and 2 TDs in the last two games. Led by a stout defensive line, the Redhawks’ defense has been dominant. Over three games the defense has only allowed one score, has forced 13 turnovers, and 7 sacks. The next JVA game is Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 pm at Middlebury High School.
