Shelburne’s 250th birthday tree plantings planned for Saturday

The Town of Shelburne’s Tree Advisory Committee has scheduled the planting of two Freeman Maple trees on the Town Green this Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 am. The planting is a continuation of the celebration of the 250th birthday of the signing of the Shelburne Charter in 1763. Committee Chair Gail Henderson-King stated, “The planting of two shade trees on the Village Green will provide a reminder of the Town’s celebration for many years to come. The trees will provide shade for those that gather on the Green by the Pierson Building (Jamie Two Coats) and beautiful fall color each year.”

The maples will be two of many that will be planted over the coming years thanks to the generosity of the Wake Robin Board of Directors who donated $5,000 to begin the Shelburne Tree Fund. Please join the Tree Advisory Committee for this celebratory planting!
