VASTA Youth SPARQ: Join us after school for the VASTA Youth SPARQ Program (Speed Power Agility Reaction, and Quickness). Professional strength and conditioning coaches will stimulate, motivate, and educate young people in the areas of fitness and nutrition for overall well-being. Participants will learn form, function, and injury prevention strategies while increasing coordination, self-confidence, endurance, flexibility, and lean muscle. VASTA’s approach is to shape the interest of young athletes and non-athletes in the development of fitness. Participants of any fitness ability are welcome to join as workouts are adjusted to the individual fitness level. Grades 6-8. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-3:50pm, $100/session. Session 1: Oct. 15-Nov. 7. Session 2: Nov. 12-Dec. 12 (no classes the week of Thanksgiving). Classes held at the VASTA Facility at the Shelburne Field House Complex.

CPR Certification Class: Sat., Nov. 2, 9 am-12:30 pm. American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED is a classroom, video-based, and instructor-led course that teaches Adult/Child/Infant CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking. This course teaches skills with the American Heart Association’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. Class fee is $35 ($10 discount will be given to Shelburne Recreation Volunteer Coaches) and is open to adults and kids ages 12 and up.  The instructor is Ryan Prouty, Vermont CPR and AED.
