Pierson Library will be closed twice over the next two weeks. The first time will be on Tuesday, May 22 so that staff can attend the annual Vermont Library Conference. The second closing will be on Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.
Wondering what to read next? Do you love learning about history through fiction? If you are looking to find a new book to read, next time you visit the library check out this month’s featured book display entitled “Step Back in Time”. A sample of Pierson Library’s historical fiction includes “The Dante Club” by Matthew Pearl, “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and “March” by Geraldine Brooks. As always, the featured book display can be found to the right of our new book shelves. Need more reading ideas? Don’t forget we have brochures by the circulation desk filled with book-reading picks.
Ongoing library events:
The Pierson Library Book Discussion Group meeting will be held this evening, Thursday, May 17 at 6:30. The book we will be discussing is “The Call” by Vermont author, and recent speaker at the library, Yannick Murphy. New members are always welcome. For information call the library at 985-5124.
Every first and third Thursday of the month you are invited to join fellow wordsmiths for a rousing game of Scrabble. Scrabble boards are open from 1 to 4 pm. Come for as long as you can. Bring a friend. The next Scrabble afternoon will be this afternoon, Thursday, May 17.
Join us every Thursday at 10:30 to enjoy a morning of songs, stories and rhymes for kids of all ages presented by story teller extraordinaire Mary Catherine Jones.
Magic cards come out every first and third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 pm. New members are always welcome. This group is for players in fifth grade through high school. The next Magic Club will be this evening, Thursday, May 17.
