O-3-Rec-SMatt Wormser receives the Joe Cenis Award at Newberry Cup: Saturday, Oct. 12 was the annual Youth Soccer Newberry Cup Event which culminates the Parks and Recreation Youth Fall Soccer program. A perfect fall day added to the fun while 24 teams and nearly 300 kids participated in several short games. Each year a volunteer is chosen to receive the Joe Cenis Award. The award recognizes a volunteer who has given of himself through hard work, energy and enthusiasm to make the Shelburne Recreation Soccer Program enjoyable and successful. This year’s recipient was Matt Wormser who has been involved with the Recreation Soccer Program for five years and coaching multiple teams for at least four years. Congratulations Matt and thanks for all you do!

CPR Certification Class: Saturday, Nov. 2, 9 am-12:30 pm. American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED is a classroom, video-based, and instructor-led course that teaches Adult/Child/Infant CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking. This course teaches skills with the American Heart Association’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.  $35 ($10 discount will be given to Shelburne Recreation Volunteer Coaches), open to adults and kids ages 12 and up.  Instructed by Ryan Prouty, Vermont CPR and AED. Registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 18

Fall Drawing with Young Rembrandts: Students will explore organic and inorganic forms and their many details including a dragonfly, popular automobile, and a nutcracker. Wednesdays Nov. 6-Dec. 18 (no class Nov. 27) from 3-4 pm, Shelburne Community School Art Room, grades K-5. $70. Registration deadline: Wed, Oct. 30.

Halloween Parade and Trick-or-Treat Event: On Sunday, Oct. 27, it’s time to get out the costumes and join the fun at the Annual Shelburne Halloween Parade and festivities. Floats will line up at 12:45 pm at Shelburne Shopping Park and the Parade will begin on Falls Road at 2 pm. Following the parade enjoy music, hot dogs, and popcorn at the Fire Station and a Costume Contest in Town Gym. Trick-or-Treating, games, candy, and raffle prizes will also take place in Town Gym from 2:30-4 pm. To register a float for the parade contact Elaine Dates ( or Dave Rice (, 985-5201. This event is sponsored by Charlotte-Shelburne Rotary, Citizen’s Bank, Shelburne Supermarket, Hannaford Supermarket, People’s United Bank and Titus Insurance. We will have a food drive to stock the Shelburne Food Shelf. Bring a non-perishable food donation to the town gym and get a special Halloween prize
