Retired NFL Hall of Famer Mike Singletary once said that his favorite part of the game was simply the opportunity to play. Unfortunately, that chance was taken away from a CVU senior athlete last Saturday in the latest of a string of field-related mishaps. In this athlete’s case, one of his cleats lodged in the metal drainage grate that separates the running track and playing field, causing a severe leg injury that ended his high school football career. This doesn’t have to happen to another student-athlete. While it’s too late to benefit this particular football player, we encourage you to vote YES on the CVU Turf Field Bond on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to help create safe, sustainable playing fields for all our children.
