News from the Pierson Library

Pierson-Tile-Logo-4cTuesday Tea: Our second Tuesday Tea will be held on Nov. 5 at 3 pm when we will discuss the popular British TV comedy series “Keeping up Appearances.”  Come as you are – or in your best Hyacinth Bucket outfit!  If you aren’t familiar with this show, check out a DVD from the library and prepare to laugh out loud. The Tuesday Tea series will continue for the next six month according to the following schedule:

December 3: Miss Marple
January 7: Downton Abbey
February 4: Downton Abbey couples
March 4: The Mad Hatter Marches Through. . .
April 1: Rosemary & Thyme
May 6: Jane Austen

The Mindcraft Club Returns: Patrons nine years old and up are invited to join or rejoin the Mindcraft Club which will begin again on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6:30 to 8 pm.  If you will need to use a library computer, please call in advance to sign up for it.

Tosca: Learn more about this famous Puccini opera in advance of the broadcast of The Met Live in HD version from local expert, Toni Hill. Join us on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 3 pm for the discussion.

New Book Display for November: Our theme for the month is “Food for Thought,” featuring cookbooks and well as novels on a food related theme. Be sure to check out the display and featured books next time you are in the library.

Book Donations Welcome Again: The Friends of the Pierson Library are now recovered from a very successful book sale and will welcome donations for the 50th annual sale in October 2014!

Veterans’ Day: The library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 in honor of our veterans. We will, however, be open on Saturday, Nov. 9 as usual from 10 am to 3 pm, so stock up for the long weekend.
