Returnable bottles and cans wanted

O-5-T-Normandy-Bottle-Drive-USEShelburne Boy Scout Troop 602 has set up a bottle drop station on Church Street, across from the United Methodist Church, to help raise funds for a trip to France next spring.

In April 2014, Shelburne Troop 602 will participate in the Omaha Beach Camporee in Normandy, France. The camporee is held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of World War II. The troop will fly to London to visit World War II museums and other attractions and then head south to Normandy aboard a ferry, retracing the route of the 1944 invading forces.

The anniversary will provide an opportunity for the scouts to better understand American and European history and the sacrifices made by our servicemen, servicewomen, and their families over the years. The scouts will learn the benefits of long-term planning, get experience traveling overseas, and gain a stronger sense of their community.

Please support “Normandy 2014” by dropping off your bottles and cans.  For more information on the trip and other fundraisers, please visit www.troop602.wordpress.com/normandy2014-2.
