Eighteen-year-old Geoffrey Hesslink of Shelburne participated in the Alltech National Horse Show, which took place the first weekend of November in Lexington, Ky. On Sunday, the National Horse Show invited the top equitation riders in the country to compete in the ASPCA Maclay Finals. The ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Class has been held since 1933 and is one of the most prestigious competitions for junior riders in the United States.
Upon completion of the final test, Hesslink was 23rd after the first round and put in stellar second and third rounds to advance him to 7th place overall. Hesslink rides with trainer Andre Dignelli in Katonah, N.Y. and has been a working student since he was 15 years old. Hesslink looks forward to a future in horse show jumping at a National level.
