A new chamber choir of mixed voices, Solaris Vocal Ensemble, is offering an exciting holiday experience in a debut concert Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 pm at the UVM Recital Hall. This festive holiday performance will draw in the spirit of the season with stunning choral treasures. This auditioned group of 20 include music educators, vocalists, and instrumentalists from across the region. Led by Artistic Director Dr. Dawn Willis, Solaris will present a variety of holiday selections.
This debut concert will feature Argento’s exuberant “Gloria” from his opera “The Masque of Angels,” the Pachelbel “Magnificat” in G (with flutes and continuo), Benjamin Britten’s lyrical “A Hymn to the Virgin,” Ola Gjeilo’s ethereal and evocative “Northern Lights,” plus a number of delightful carol arrangements. The performance will end with an audience carol sing-along and Mack Wilberg’s festive arrangement of “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.”
