German holiday baking event planned

D-2-HOLIDAY-German-BakingDiscover traditional German holiday baking with true classics Christstollen (cake with ground almonds and candied citrus) and Lebkuchen (soft gingerbread cookies) on Sunday, Dec. 14, from 4-6 pm at the McClure Multi-Generational Center. Participants will learn all about German Christmas traditions and why these delicious holiday pastries are so special. All the steps of making classic German Weihnachtsgeback (holiday pastries) at home will be covered, and baking enthusiasts can try their hands at shaping a classic fruited Christmas cake. Heike Meyer is the owner of Bee Sting Bakery in Fairfax, a small artisan bakery specializing in whole grain naturally leavened breads and pastries.

The McClure Multi-Generational Center is located at 241 North Winooski Ave. in Burlington.
