Helping and Nurturing Diverse Seniors (HANDS) in collaboration with the Elks Lodge will provide both a delivered meal and a sit-down dinner again this year on Christmas Day. “We’re combining our efforts with the Elks Lodge and we’re happy to have the sit-down buffet dinner on North Avenue this year,” explained HANDS Director Megan Humphrey. “We also know that some people would rather have a meal delivered to their home and we’ll provide that, too.”

The free annual holiday dinner will be held on Christmas Day from noon-3 pm at the Elks Lodge at 925 North Avenue in Burlington, and there will be a special gathering at 1 pm. To reserve the free meal delivered to your home (either ham or vegetarian lasagna), please call Champlain Valley Agency on Aging at 865-0360 by Dec. 13. After Dec. 13 or to reserve free transportation to the Elks Lodge, please call Megan Humphrey at 864-7528 or email meganjhumphrey@gmail.com.

Last year, 250 meals and gift bags were delivered or served and “we’re hoping seniors will call the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging to reserve a meal,” Humphrey mentioned.

Burlington School Food Project, Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, Elks Lodge, and Temple Sinai among many others coordinate to make the day a success.  “We collaborate with lots of people and businesses and really appreciate all of the donations,” explained Humphrey.
