P. Brian Machanic of Charlotte announces the release of a new publication entitled “This Book is for the Birds,” an 88-page coffee-table book which features 37 species of birds indigenous to the Eastern U.S., most found in Vermont. Each bird is beautifully photographed, with an accompanying narrative devoted to that specie. Written in a jocular style interwoven with factual information and anecdotes from Machanic’s many years afield, the book provides an entertaining read as well as an archive of memorable pictures.
Tom Slayton, editor emeritus of Vermont Life magazine, has offered the following accolade after reviewing this book: “Brian’s remarkable photographs reflect his lifelong love of nature and his special affinity for wild birds. I enjoyed this book immensely.”
“This Book is for the Birds” will be available at a number of local outlets, including The Flying Pig Bookstore, Shelburne Farms Welcome Center, Apple Mt. Gifts, Phoenix Bookstores, Vermont Book Shop, Bear Pond Bookstores, the Northshire Bookstore, Barnes & Noble, and can be ordered online at Amazon.com.
A native Vermonter, Machanic developed a passion for nature and its wildlife during his youth – a persistent love which fueled the inception of Nature’s Eye Studio in 1990. This studio has served as a compendium for Machanic’s photography, which has sold in many retail outlets as well as through his website at www.natureseyestudio.com.
Machanic’s photography has received regional and national awards and has been featured in a number of publications, including Vermont Life, Birders’ World, Vermont Woodland, Natural New England, Livin’ the Vermont Way, Tourist News (Maine), Vermont Outdoorsman, Ranger Rick and Turkey Call (NWTF).
